30 before 30- #15 Silence of the Lambs
Source: Empire Online
In the revised version I added seeing Silence of the Lambs. This particular edit has been brought to you by the midget’s Hannibal phase, and for more on that see her thoughts on the first two seasons of the tv show.
The midget said I should see this movie because I would love the character of Clarisse. And she was right, Jodie Foster’s character has a quiet, deep strength to her that is so very human. She’s afraid, she makes mistakes, but she doesn’t let that stop her, or define her. I am glad I saw this movie just to see this character.
I decided this morning when I was searching for a picture to go with this post that this movie did disturb me, and I would likely not watch it again. But I do not regret seeing it. Every scene, every shot, every word in the movie feels so carefully placed. Nothing feels thrown in just for dramatic effect. And it is that quiet story telling that sucks you in and forces you to pay attention.

Brilliant movie. Brilliant adaptation of a brilliantly disturbing book. Brilliant performances.
Hannibal can’t touch this, and it’s probably why it got canceled before it gets the chance to even try this story arc.
