30 before 30- #25 Scream

Scream

I was impressed with how little I knew about this movie going in. I had no idea who the bad guy was going to be, and I half guessed near the end? But only half got it right. What struck me most was how much Scream felt like an episode of Buffy.  I enjoyed this movie, I’d rewatch it.

Did you know that Scream was rejected several times before Wes Craven picked it up?

I feel very neutral towards it. I didn’t enjoy it but I didn’t dislike it. I feel like if I had more slasher film knowledge I’d be able to find the humor in it. It very much tackles and mocks the typical outline/outcomes of slasher movies and in that sense is legendary for its satire. Kind of like what Cabin in the Woods did.

      I did not know that!

And I have even less slasher film knowledge than you, which is why I was surprised when I enjoyed it. I figured I wouldn’t get the ‘in’ jokes so it would just fall flat for me.
