Quarter-lifer Musings
Well said! I had three aspects going into the series: the films everyone seems to loves dearly with Megan Follows as Anne, and the L.M. Montgomery series I clung to once the series sparked a deep love. Everyone from that camp seemed to hate the series and I wanted to go in with an open mind and not try to compare. I gobbled it up too and hope more episodes are in the works!
It’s hard to believe these books are over a century old and yet are so forward thinking. Anne was my Rosie the Riveter growing up – a symbol of possibility. Her tales told me it was okay to choose book smarts, be an imaginative person, and to not be afraid of going against the grain even when my environment didn’t always welcome it.

Well said! I had two aspects going into the new series: the films everyone seems to love dearly with Megan Follows as Anne, and the L.M. Montgomery series I clung to once the films sparked a deep love. Everyone from the older Anne camp seemed to hate the new series and I wanted to go in with an open mind and not try to compare. I gobbled it up too and hope more episodes are in the works! It’s a very refreshing and modern telling of Anne that like you said is not afraid of showing you the painful parts.

Nicely written.
I love the 80’s miniseries and sequel. I must have watched it a hundred times. I an still quite entire sections of it. But I enjoyed this modern take on the story as well. 🙂
